Cornhole Plans | Baggo Plans

Yes I know... I've been there / done that. You get back from a friends beach bash or tailgate party where you've played cornhole or Baggo. "Man... that was fun" you say to yourself. "I've got to make my own set!" you proclaim.
So here are the easy to follow step by step instructions on how to build your own cornhole game.

  • Call a friend to borrow their truck. "Dude...I'm gonna build a cornhole set!"
  • Go to local big box home supply store to buy the following: 1/2" sheet of plywood, three 8' long  2x4s, box of wood screws, bandages, sandpaper, can of primer paint, paint remover, 2 or 3 cans of the colors that you want your boards to be.
  • Unload friend's truck, take friend's truck back to friend.
  • Ask friend if you can borrow the following power tools. Circular saw, miter saw, jig saw, drill, and a grinder for good measure.
  • Get back home, look online for directions on how to use circular saw and jig saw.
  • Cut the wood with circular saw to the size that you think it should be about 2 feet wide by 4' long...you try to recall. Wife asks "are you burning wood out here Charlie?"
  • Draw the circles for the cornhole on the board...about 6" diameter? Right? Should be okay. "Good enough for Government work" you chuckle to yourself.
  • Go back online and see "HOW THE*&%@#@ am I supposed to start that hole with that jig saw!!!
  • Use drill to make starter hole for jig saw.
  • Drive to big box store to buy another drill bit to replace the one you just broke.
  • ALRIGHT! Now you can start making the rails, sides and legs for you cornhole game.
  • Cut 2 of the 2x4 boards into lengths of 3' 11 1/2". Those will be the sides.
  • Screw the top of the boards to the rails. leave the 1/2" gap at the to in case you make it to the point where you use the risers (Plywood 2' x 2')
  • The third 2 x4 will be for across the front. Check the inside measurement between the side rails to get the right dimension (should be approx 21")
  • Attach the risers to the end of the board where you have made the hole. They should...repeat SHOULD fit nicely...
  • "Oh well it's getting there" you say... "I can hide some of that stuff with paint."
  • Paint! OH YEAH!!! Once you figure out that you really don't have the talent to draw the Bears or Cubs logo... you settle for simplicity.  "Slop some paint on 'em and let's rock!" you shout after your 8th beer.
  • DUDE! They're done...you say as you turn up the volume on that Metallica tune. Then it dawns on you.
  • BAGS.... ummm... "Honey?...you still awake?" Slurred speech hardly noticeable."Hey...do you have like any...I mean... do you know how to sew? We got popcorn, right... ?"
  • You call your mother-in-law and ask her to sew the bags...She does...using old material from Aunt Esther's pant suit from 1978. Some bags are round-ish...some are square-ish. Some weigh a pound...some weigh half a pound. You smell something familiar..."She used microwave popcorn!...you deduce. But you thank her none-the-less.
  • Your brother's party is tomorrow and you can't wait to bring your home made cornhole set.
  • Packing your Toyota Prius for the trip...you realize something...
  • You call your friend and ask... "Dude...ummm.. could we borrow your truck? These cornhole boards won't fit in my...."

Hey... at least you gave it a try. If you're lucky...you didn't have to use the bandages or paint remover.
